The School of Architecture of the Lisbon Technical University, after all the legal decrees in force that changed the life of the Portuguese University, begins a new cycle.

The oldest Portuguese institution teaching Architecture is the legatee of this discipline and the arts teaching from the 16th Century to the present day, having passed by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts until its integration in the Technical University as School of Architecture.

In Portugal the School of Architecture is:

  • the School of this branch of knowledge that receives more foreign students from the entire world to participate in its courses;
  • the School of Architecture with the greatest number of Ph.D professors and that teaches the greatest number of areas related to Architecture.

The emphasis we give to Arts and Humanities in parallel with Technique in the search for knowledge and excellence and the open-mindedness towards new trends and currents of thought are our characteristics.

We favour an international net of schools for cultural debate, the guarantee for the strengthening of knowledge and culture, in the European and Mediterranean areas.

The courses we teach are permanently updated and this year we offer a new degree in Scenography, with the participation of the best national professionals.

We teach several short specialization courses and Master and Doctorate degrees in Architecture, Urban Planning and Design, preparing professionals for the leadership in the activities they will be called to perform in their professional lives.

Research is also an aspect we favour, having our research centre been awarded the highest classification from the Foundation for Science and Technology.
